Silly Scoop

Materials and Tools:

garden shovel
large washers
1/4" rod
copper wire
beads
thin slice of 2" pipe
plasma cutter
MIG welder
welding gloves, helmet and mask
chalk pencil
drill

Step 1

Steps:

1. Sketch a face shape on the back of the shovel with a chalk pencil.

Steps 2 and 3

2. Cut out the face outline shape with a plasma cutter.

3. Cut out the area of the shovel (below the indentation where the handle is attached) for the nose with a plasma cutter.

Step 4

4. Flip the nosepiece over to create a three-dimensional effect.

Step 5

5. Weld the nose back on for dimension.

Step 6

6. Weld washers on for the silly scoop eyes.

Step 7

7. Cut a 2-inch pipe in half to create a smile. Weld it on below the nose.

Steps 8 and 9

8. Bend copper wire into earrings, add beads and place them on the sides of the silly scoop shovel.

9. Cut off the shovel handle about one foot. Drill the handle and insert a piece of 1/4-inch rod so the silly scoop can be poked into the ground.
