Project designed by Pat DeSantis. Materials:
denim fabric
plastic ties
two foam cornice forms
Wright's ribbon
Wright's braid
Wright's fringe
Wright's cord
fusible webbing
glue
straight pins
Steps:
Denim window topper 1. Attach two foam cornices together to make the size window topper desired (figure A).
2. Cut a piece of denim fabric slightly longer and wider than the cornice. Cover the cornice with the material and tuck the fabric into the indentions between the foam bars of the cornice (figure B). Tuck the ends of the fabric under the cardboard piece on the back of the cornice (figure C).
3. Cut a strip of denim fabric slightly longer than the length of the cornice and almost as wide. Attach fusible webbing to pieces of ribbon, braid and fringe (figure D) and iron them horizontally to the denim strip. Attach the denim strip to the cornice by gluing or pinning (figure E). Window topper with hanging fabric
1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the denim window topper.
2. Tuck strips of cord into the indentations between the foam bars (figure F).
3. Glue or pin strands of braid onto the top and bottom of the cornice.
4. Cut matching strips of fabric about 15 to 18 inches long and about four inches wide. Shape one end of each strip at a point.
5. Fold in a fuse the edges of one strip (figure G). Fuse trim to those edges (figure H).
