Steps:

1. Place a 13" x 33" piece of interfacing between two pieces of 13" x 33" satin material (figure A). Sew the three pieces together on all four sides, leaving an opening on one side.

2. Pin the outer blade of decorative braid to the edges of the material. To create mitered corners, extend the braid past the edge of the material and fold the ribbon back to where the folded edge meets the edge of the material (figure B). Hold the corner of the braid with an index finger and pull the braid around to where the blade edge meets the next perpendicular side of the material (figure C). Continue to pin the outer blade edge of the braid to the edge of the material until the ribbon frames the material on all sides.

3. Sew the inside and outside edges of the braid to the material.

4. To miter the last corner of the ribbon, turn the end of the braid under to create the diagonal edge (figure D), cut off the excess braid and sew the mitered edge to the material.

5. To create a matching napkin holder, fuse a piece of ribbon to the back of a piece of decorative braid with fusible webbing (figure E). Sew the ends together, allowing a half-inch seam (figure F). Trim any excess fabric and turn the napkin ring rightside out.
