These are great sleeves to use on a jacket for a unique look. Another great feature of this sleeve is that most patterns with a dolman sleeve have only three pieces.
- Cut out the fabric according to your pattern.
- Press thejacket hem and add interfacing under the fold of the hem. Don't fuse the interfacing to the hem; fuse it to the garment. Repeat for the hem of the sleeves.
- Stay-stitch about 1/2" from the edge of the neck around the back pieces to create a long-lasting garment.
- Match up the back pieces right sides together. Pin along the center back. Sew the center-back seam.
- Place the right sides of the front to the right side of the back of the jacket. Sew these pieces together with about a 5/8" seam allowance.
- Press seams open. Overlock the seams to prevent raveling.
- Attach the collar pieces according to the pattern.
- Join the shoulder seams and continue sewing the remainder of the jacket.
- To alter the pattern, cut across the chest area all the way down the middle of each sleeve. Then you can add or take away as much as you need to adjust the pattern.
