Carol's guest, Dee Keller, teaches how to use three-dimensional stenciling sets. Although the stencils are done on a two-dimensional piece of paper, they give the impression of items that are actually perched on a real shelf.
Materials:
Deesigns, Ltd. stencils
paper
level
stencil brush
stencil paint
water slightly colored by dark-colored paint
shader brush
Steps:
- Decide at what eye level your shelf is going to be. Stencils are available for shelves at eye level, above eye level or below eye level. There is also a stencil of the shelf and the brackets to hold the shelf up.
- Stencil in the shelf, checking with a level to make sure it is "hung" properly, as you would if hanging an actual shelf. With a pencil, draw a line across the top of the level to indicate where the stencil will be placed.
- Once the shelf line has been set, place the stencils "on" the shelf as you want them to appear. Confirm that the contents of the shelf will coincide with the rest of the room's decor.
- Paint the objects by following the instructions included with the stencil kits.B
