Stamping On Solid Ground

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-127 -- More Projects »
To introduce newcomers the world of rubber stamping, Carol highlights some of the many products available in today's marketplace. She shows off her skills at embossing within this genre, and Linda Watson follows suit with stationery that has been stamped and embossed with the legendary logo from The Carol Duvall Show.

The featured stamps include Mary Engelbreit's "Snap Out of It" and "Queen of Everything" designs. Also on view and up for critique are multi-colored stamp pads, roll-on stamps with ink cartridges included, stamp pens, and stamp pads that snap together. The high point of the show is a mega-stamp that is so large that Linda must stand on it to transfer the design!

Not to be outdone, Carol achieves impressive results with new embossing powders and simple techniques. Stamp the desired image on paper and pour embossing powder onto the design. Heat the stamped area with a heat gun, so that the lines eventually become three-dimensional. One of the benefits is that the embossing makes it very easy to "stay in the lines" when subsequently coloring by markers or paints.

Carol also tenders the following tips:
  • Store stamps using plastic serving trays and inverted plastic picture frames.
  • Clean stamps with window cleaner, such as Windex.
