Materials:

khaki/tan colored overalls
DEKA fabric paints - multiple colors
DEKA extender
large piece of cardboard
blue painter's tape
assorted sizes of stencils brushes
adhesive spray
The Stencilled Garden stencils: Cherries Jubilee (#TSG184), Ashley's Tea Party (#TSG183), Leopard Print (#TSG128), Girly's Flowers (#TSG175), Little Checks (#TSG707), Big Cherries (#TSG709), The Rose (#TSG620), Girly's Flower Border (#TSG122) and Bee Happy (#TSG177)

Steps:

  1. Pre-wash and dry the overalls before beginning to paint.
  2. Pick out several different stencil patterns that will fit on the overalls. Be sure to choose an assortment of designs and sizes.
  3. To apply a solid color before stenciling, mix DEKA fabric paint with DEKA extender and paint the fabric. (The more extender you use the more translucent the color will be.) Use painters' tape to tape off any area that you do not want to paint. Allow the area to dry before you begin stenciling.
  4. Spray the adhesive onto the cardboard and put the cardboard under the area of fabric where you will stencil. The adhesive spray will hold the fabric in place.
  5. Place stencil at desired location on overalls and tape down. Begin to stencil the designs on the fabric by working in a circular motion.
  6. Randomly place stencil designs on the overalls. Try mixing and matching many different patterns.
  7. When all of the stenciling is complete, let the garment dry overnight.
  8. Heat set the painted areas with an iron.
