8-Panel T-Shirt

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-244 -- More Projects »
Rubber Stampede's Grace Taormina provides instructions for a stamped T-shirt. After reminding viewers that they should first wash the shirt, Grace stamps the design on paper and then uses a disappearing marker to create a grid on the T-shirt. She puts newsprint between the front and back of the shirt to prevent bleed-through.

Materials:

brush markers
fabric inks
paper

She colors the stamp with the brush markers and then stamps the image onto tissue paper several times and in several colors. She cuts apart the images and tests their placement on the shirt.

Grace then demonstrates how to use a stamp positioner - a tool used in stamping to make sure your images line up exactly where you want them to. She applies fabric ink to the stamp with a makeup wedge sponge. Then she places the positioner, and tissue paper containing the image, in place on the shirt. Keeping the positioner in place, she removes the tissue and then applies the permanent stamp.
