Carol's crew traveled to the Association of Crafts & Creative Industries (ACCI) show in Chicago, which featured some ingenious products available on your local craft store shelves. While wandering the miles of aisles, Carol found two great products that will help you decorate furniture like a professional.
Debbie Davis from Koh-I-Noor demonstrated the Magic Mural Tracer, which is a non-smear paper that can be used to trace a design on furniture or walls. After the design has been traced, simply paint it like a child's paint-by-numbers motif. The paper is not graphite or carbon, and can be used again and again. For a look that adds dimension and shadowing, Debbie added a little white paint to the base color, and used a sweeping brush motion. The same technique can be used on ceramic tile, textured walls, and clothing. Please note: This segment was taped at the 1996 show.
Pam Gregg used ZIG Woodcraft Markers to "paint" wooden cutouts. The markers come in a variety of tip sizes from very thin to wide, like the Big and Bold, which is perfect for base coating. It goes on in a thin, even coat so it dries quickly. The Chiseltip, on the other hand, is a versatile marker which is capable of creating wide, medium or narrow lines and is available in 24 colors. The ZIG Woodcraft Markers are permanent, acid-free, waterproof water-based pigment ink markers that offer brilliant color on wood pieces and can be used on any surface on which acrylic paint can be applied.
