Steps:

1. Cut backing fabric and batting for the canvas into 20" x 24", 1- inch larger than the finished size of the quilt. Cut three 21" x 25" black soft tulle pieces.

2. Cut earth-tone (brown, beige, etc) fabrics into small confetti (figure A) for the ground area.

3. Place earth tone fabric confetti directly on the ground (pathway) area of the batting (figure B).

4. Cut red, yellow, orange and green fabrics into toothpick size confetti (figure C).

5. Place fabrics from step 4 into the outlying areas and then cover the entire area with autumn color leaves.(figure D).

6. Add green fabric confetti for green tree leaves. Tip: Green fabrics add contrast to an autumn setting.

7. Cut black fabric into selected small tree trunk sizes (figure E).

8. Arrange black fabrics into tree trunk position of the tree trunks (figure F).

9. Add accent colors of black, purple, turquoise and pink to make it resemble an oil painting. Spread and cut fabrics on the surface.

10. Cover with black soft tulle and pin (figure G). Tip: Pin every two inches.

11. Attach quilt to #3 roller and #1 roller on your longarm machine making sure to feed it under the #2 roller.

12. Stitch all over with loops and curvy stitching to hold (figure H). Use monofilament thread for top and bobbin.

13. To attach the trunk, zigzag stitch on a regular sewing machine (figure I).

Note: Pin-baste the entire piece if sewing on a home sewing machine so fabric confetti pieces stay in place while stitching

14. Cover again with black soft tulle and stitch all over to make sure all confetti is securely stitched. Repeat until you achieve the desired results.

15. Add 18" x 22" piping to the edge.
