Materials:
green, pink, orange, purple & blue Amazing Eraser Clay
paring knife
round toothpick
paintbrush
baking dish or cookie sheet
Steps:
1. For the turtle shell: Roll a 1-1/8-inch ball of green clay into an oval. Use the rounded end of paintbrush to make a hole in the center of the bottom, large enough to fit on a pencil top (figure A). Press bottom against a flat surface to flatten.
2. Roll a 1/8-inch round log of blue approximately 14 inches long. Place the two ends together and twist. Keep twisting until it fits around the lower part of the shell. Press twisted log around bottom and cut off where ends meet (figure B).
3. For the turtle's head: Roll a 11/16-inch ball of purple into a teardrop and then shape into a head (figure C). Use
a knife to make the turtle's mouth.
4. For eyes, roll two 6/32-inch balls of orange. Press together slightly and press onto top of head. Roll two 1/16-inch balls of blue; flatten slightly and press onto center of each eye. For pupils, use a toothpick to make a hole in each eye. For nostrils, use a toothpick to make two holes above the mouth (figure D). Set head aside.
5. For feet, roll four 3/8-inch balls of purple into teardrops. Flatten slightly and use a knife to make three toe lines in each foot (figure E). Press onto the bottom of the shell (figure F).
6. For the turtle's tail: Roll a 1/4-inch ball of purple into a teardrop. Flatten slightly; curl and press onto bottom of shell (figure G).
7. To decorate the shell, roll a 1/16-inch-round log of pink into a 12-inch-long log. Randomly press all over shell. Roll 1/16-inch balls of orange and blue and press these also all over the shell (figure H). Attach the head to the shell.
8. Bake at 250 F degrees for 10 minutes.
