Once baby arrives, it may be difficult to find the time to put an album together. With a little pre-planning, you can have the album created and ready for pictures to be placed inside -- before baby's arrival!

Figure A

Steps:

  1. Narrow down a selection of papers and vellum that you would like to use throughout the album, and then choose an album that will accommodate the number of pages you plan on using.

Figure B

  • Write out a shot list of photos that you would like to take of you baby through his or her first year. Some examples could be of your baby in a special outfit, or when he tried eating baby food for the first time. Then, underneath the shot, write the date it was taken and a memory that goes with the photo. Once the photos are developed, place them on the page created for that particular month.

  • Figure C

  • Prepare your journaling template using a word processor, and then type in special memories or thoughts for each picture. Print out on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of vellum. Cut out each entry and place on the opposite page, adjacent to the picture. Secure to the page using a star shaped brad.

  • Figure D

  • After you have created a page for each month, add additional pages for special events. Christening, first visitors, baby showers, family tree and of course the first birthday. Be simple when embellishing the page, the main idea is to display pictures with a small amount of journaling to document the memory.
