Decorate a page or notebook with wire. Using a wire tool and jig, you can create beautiful designs in a snap!

Guest Stephanie Barnard demonstrates how to jazz up a plain spiral-bound notebook.

Materials:

24-gauge wire non-tarnish silver
wire jig
notebook
crimper
heart pattern
round nose pliers
nylon jaw pliers
wire cutter

Figure A

  1. Using a wire jig and heart pattern, wrap wire around each peg (figure A) starting with the bottom peg.

  • Carefully take the heart off the jig and twist the two ends together to secure.

  • Repeat to make two more hearts.

  • Adhere the hearts to the page with wire staples.

  • Figure B

    Wire Staples

    1. Cut an inch and a half of 24-gauge wire. Using round nose pliers, pull the wire up in the center (figure B). This will form an upside down U.

    Figure C

  • Poke two small holes through the notebook cover (figure C) where you want to adhere the heart.

  • Place the heart on the page and insert the wire staple through the holes.

  • Flip the page over, and then curl the wire around so that it lays flat against the page.

    Crimped Wire

    1. Run a 26" piece of wire through the crimper.

    2. Cut wire in half.

    3. Using your fingers, twist the ends to form a swirl.

    4. Adhere wire to the page with wire staples.

Note: Nail heads and glue dots are also good items to use when adhering wire to a page.
