Suzanne’s ornate, three-dimensional greeting cards are such works of art that they should be framed. So, that’s exactly why this delightful and talented single mom recently started displaying her favorite creations in shadow boxes.
Materials:
watercolor pencils
watercolor paper
razor
card stock with printed border
glitter
glue
Glue Dots
paper cutter
hand-torn paper
foam core board

Steps:
1. Draw design on watercolor paper using watercolor pencils.
2. Using razor blade, carve out parts of drawing so it’s raised off the paper. You will be creating a relief of the drawing.
3. Scan image into computer. Edit in art program to adjust colors and any other manipulations.
4. Print out image on card stock.
5. Apply glitter and any other embellishments. Let dry.
6. Cut image down to size. Mount on a larger piece of card stock using raised glue dots or foam tape.
7. Next, mount piece on Japanese rice paper. Again, using raised mountings.
8. Glue or raise mount a piece of foam core to the rice paper.
9. Mount entire piece inside custom-built shadow box.
