Recycled Stretch Glove Doll

Steps:

1. To the make doll body: Put a glove on and pull it back off, turning the glove to the wrong side. Carefully clip open the cuff.

2. Lay glove out flat. With a marker and ruler, draw a line up from thumb joint and ring finger joint to the top of the cuff. Sew on these lines.

3. Cut off excess glove (about 1/4 inch from sew lines).

4. Turn right side out. Stuff the two figures (these become the legs). Stuff up to the first cuff line.

5. With dental floss, do a running base stitch around the cuff line. Pull tight and knot off.

6. Place a small amount of balling in the "head." Cut 30 to 40 pieces of yarn 14 inches long. With the crochet hook, put the yarn through the glove/cuff, loop over and tighten.

7. Repeat and fill in rest of the hair (be sure to leave an opening for the face).

8. Finish stuffing the head, do a running base stitch with dental floss, and tie off.

9. Sew on 6mm black beads for eyes, pinch and sew nose, and embroider mouth.

10. Stuff two of the remaining fingers and sew to the neck.

11. To make the dress: Cut or tear a piece of cotton fabric 7-1/2" x 22". Fold in half and sew a 1/4-inch seam on the 7-1/2-inch side.

12. Turn right side out, turn down 1 inch, and do a running base stitch with dental floss 1/4 inch from the folded edge.

13. Rip a piece of coordinating fabric 2" x 34". Fold down 3/4 inches, sew a 1/4-inch base stitch and gather to fit around dress.

14. Pin in place and zigzag yarn over the gathering stitch.

15. Lay dress out so that the seam is in the center back; cut armholes on sides.

16. Put the dress on the doll, putting the arms through the holes.

17. Gather the dental floss around the neck and tie off.
