Alternative design
9. Sew on 6mm black beads for eyes, pinch and sew nose, and embroider mouth (figure J).

10. Stuff two of the remaining fingers and sew to the neck (figure K).

11. To make the dress: Cut or tear a piece of cotton fabric 7-1/2" x 22". Fold in half and sew a 1/4-inch seam on the 7-1/2-inch side (figure L).

12. Turn right side out, turn down 1 inch (figure M), and do a running base stitch with dental floss 1/4 inch from the folded edge.

13. Rip a piece of coordinating fabric 2" x 34". Fold down 3/4 inches, sew a 1/4-inch base stitch and gather to fit around dress (figure N).

14. Pin in place and zigzag yarn over the gathering stitch (figure O).

15. Lay dress out so that the seam is in the center back; cut armholes on sides.

16. Put the dress on the doll, putting the arms through the holes (figure P).

17. Gather the dental floss around the neck and tie off (figure Q).
