Reveal Images with Interactive Windows

Make window cutouts look realistic by creating movable shutters and adding embellishments.
Reveal an image with interactive windows. Guest Tricia Morris explains how easily this effect can be created.

Materials:

Club Scrap Old South Paper Collection in colors Green, Magnolia Print, Brick and Tan
Old South unmounted rubber stamps
Old South alphabet stickers
Ranger Adirondack Ink in colors Ginger, Bottle and Raisin
charms
fiber
Marvy Southwest corner punch
HALOS mounting system
brads
craft knife
ruler
bone folder

Steps:


  1. Stamp four windows onto 8-1/2" x 11" Tan paper using Ginger ink.

  2. Using Raisin and Bottle ink, stamp images of bricks and leaves onto the paper.

  • Score the hinges of the window with a ruler and bone folder (figure A).

  • Cut along the window edges with a craft knife, and then fold the window back along the scored lines.

  • Stamp the window image on the back of the previously cut out windows.

  • Mount brads on each shutter (figure B).

  • Mount photos behind each window.

  • Create a title using handwriting and stickers.

  • Mount the title onto Purple and Brick paper (figure C).

  • Stamp the perimeter of the Green paper with a leaf image, using Bottle ink.

  • Adhere the page behind the Tan paper.
