Another option: Add a mirror to the drawer to create a vanity.
Materials:

drawer
molding trim
nails
sawtooth hangers
jars
washers and nuts
decorative handle
"L" hooks
hooks

Steps:

1. Start this project with a sturdy drawer; you can find one at a salvage yard. Pre-cut and pre-paint a piece of molding trim to fit onto the underside of the drawer to give it extra depth. Then nail it in place and add sawtooth hangers to it.

2. Turn the drawer over. Pre-drill holes in jar lids and the drawer. Set the lid onto the face and secure to drawer with a washer and a nut.

3. After all the lids are on, turn the drawer upright and add a decorative handle to the top. Attach it from inside the drawer with a screw.

4. Attach "L" hooks to hold spools of thread. Screw them into pre-drilled holes in the backside of the drawer. Also pre-drill for the hooks so they are easy to twist in.

5. To hold scissors and such, use another piece of trim. Screw on wooden drawer pull and attach it to the front of the caddy with nails. And that's it!
