Simply Quilts went to the famed fashion district in downtown Los Angeles (where there are more than 200 textile stores in a four-block radius!) in order fill up the challengers' bags with wonderfully diverse scraps of fabric.
Host Alex Anderson explains the guidelines for Simply Quilts Trash-to-Treasure challenge. Three challengers were sent a trash bag of fabric scraps. Included were an assortment of fabrics in a variety of shapes and colors including upholstery fabrics.

  1. Each challenger had to use at least 1/2-inch square of fabric from each fabric scrap.

  2. In addition, each quilter was allowed one yard each of two fabrics of their choice.

  3. Challengers were encouraged to include non-fabric embellishments of their choice.

  4. Challengers were allowed to alter their fabrics any way that they desired, including adding a stabilizer.
