Project by Ann K. Alenik from Las Vegas, Nev.

Ann Alenik used to be an electrical engineer. She knew how to work on cars, and she always knew that she could work well with metal. She had always loved art, so she took some welding classes and got started. For this project, she will be making a wire napkin holder with glass globs.

14- or 16-gauge silver armature wire
silicone adhesive
blue and red round polished glass stones

Steps:

1. Cut the armature wire in the following lengths: two pieces each 24 inches long for front and back, two pieces each 20 inches long for the sides and one 16-inch piece for the bottom.

2. Twist, bend, and shape the wires with pliers to make the side pieces (figures A), a bottom (figures B), and a front and back (figures C).

3. Form the napkin holder by twisting 14-gauge wire on the corners to hold the five wire pieces together (figure D).

4. Glue on the glass stones over the swirled wire designs using silicone adhesive (figure E).
