Vicki Payne's garden bells will add that special flair and sparkle to your garden, but they are functional as well--use them as a greenhouse around a plant or flower. Surely your plants will give the outcome of this craft a ringing endorsement.
Materials:
six pieces of glass cut to 4" x 8" rectangles
six pieces of glass cut to 4" x 5-3/8" triangles
1/8" U-shaped brass came
masking tape
soldering iron and solder
gold paint pen
knotcher or a pair of pliers or snips
Steps:
- Cut glass, or have a glass shop cut it for you.
- Take your cut pieces of glass, and notch the came at each point where the cane will have to bend to fit around the edge of the glass.
- Wrap came along the edges of each piece of glass.
- Tape together the six rectangular pieces to form a hexagon.
- .Arrange six triangular pieces, as pictured, and tape them together to form the top of bell.
- Solder all pieces in place.
- Clean with soap and water.
- To hide the silver solder joints, paint them with a gold paint pen.
- Accent top of bell by attaching a glass marble or brass ornament with hot glue or solder.
