It's not just the gifts that are important, the wrapping, the setting, the surrounding etc, everything plays a part. Even the cards play an important part.
Here, Carol Duvall showed a handmade card which was decorated with stickers and held a key on the inside page. The key was really to the gift which had been placed in a cardboard box. The box, however, became almost a gift in itself because it had been covered in suede paper. Both were held together with small locks from the hardware store, and the key in the card went to the lock on the box! A bit elaborate if the gift inside is a paper covered stone, but everything all together made it a very special gift for a very special person on a very special day.
To continue in letting dad know how special he is even the table can be decorated in a special for dad way. The old "feet on the balloon" trick always works. This time, glue paper cut-outs or draw faces with permanent markers on the balloons... one can be dad, another mother, and smaller balloons can represent the youngsters. Make heart shaped cardboard feet with two slits cut for pulling the knot on the balloon through so they will stand up and you can have the entire balloon family decorating the dinner table. If desired, you can cut out paper hands, tape to the side of the balloons, and have them holding straw and paper banners declaring dad the BEST!
But all the decorating does not have to be contained to the dinner table. With glass chalk that easily washes off, the youngsters can write all manner of "Happy Father's Day" messages on the windows along with hearts and "He's the Best" messages. Yes... the kids can wash it OFF of the windows, too!
