Steps:

1. Apply repositionable adhesive or glue to the bottom and sides of the box.

2. Cover the bottom and sides of the box with blue chenille, wrapping the edges to the inside of the box. Allow 3/4 to 1 inch of extra chenille on all sides to wrap to the inside (figure A). Miter the corners to reduce bulk and glue in place (figure B).

3. Wrap the pink chenille over the box lid and around the edges to the inside (figure C). Miter the corners to reduce bulk and glue in place (figure D).

4. Line the inside and inside cover of the box (figure E) with coordinating decorative paper (figure F).

5. Cover the card stock picture frame with white chenille, cutting the chenille 3/4 to 1 inch larger than the frame. Create the frame by cutting an "X" in the center of the chenille (figure G).

6. Wrap and glue the fabric around the edges to the wrong side of the frame (figure H). Miter the corners to eliminate bulk, and trim away the excess material.

7. Glue the frame to the top of the box (figure I).

8. To make the ABC mini pillows: Reverse-print ABCs on iron-on transfer paper. Iron each letter to a miniature hemstitched doily (figure J).

9. Place two hemstitched doilies (one with a letter and one plain) with wrong sides together. Begin at the center top and weave the doilies together with ribbon or floss, skipping every other hole. Leave a 4- to 5-inch tail at each end. Before completing the last side of the square, insert a small amount of filling to "poof" the pillow. Complete the stitching and tie the ribbon into a bow (figure K).

10. For the duck: Place a small amount of filling between the two crochet ducks and glue or hand-stitch together (figure L).

11. For the cardigan and miniature hanger: Turn the knit sweater inside out. Cut the sweater along the center front and turn 1/8 inch on each cut edge to the outside to form the cardigan. Glue in place.

12. Stitch three tiny contrasting buttons to one side of the cardigan (figure M). Wrap the miniature hanger with floss, ribbon or chenille (figure N).

13. Arrange and glue crochet pieces, ABC pillows and cardigan on the hanger to the top of the box. Add buttons, safety pins and other trinkets or adornments to the box.

Precious mementos of the baby's hospital stay, photos and family members' thoughts can be tucked away in this keepsake box. Store this box safely out of the reach of tiny fingers for a tender remembrance.
