Lydia Shire has two friends that don't normally get along--country and contemporary. She and her architect daughter Lisa Shire teamed up in Lydia's kitchen to turn these two foes into friends, using a huge red stove and a French-style poster. The combination of country and contemporary make for an interesting design style and adds excitement to the room, just the kind of atmosphere Lydia wanted to create in her new kitchen. Concrete counters feature interesting turrets and inlaid copper pieces. The sycamore cabinets contain an inlaid ebony design. A stone spit at the far end of the space brings in a rustic touch.
