European Chandeliers

Flea Market Finds With The Kovels : Episode FMF-106 -- More Projects »
If you want to bring some Old World charm into your home, how about a vintage, European chandelier? Dealer Nancy Janigian, an exhibitor at the Antique & Collectible Market in Long Beach, Calif., refurbishes them. Usually in disrepair, the chandeliers have to be taken apart, cleaned, painted and re-wired. Most are also in need of matching crystals.

One thing to consider--while painting an old chandelier enhances the decorative value, some purists say a new coat of paint affects the monetary value. However, not many people want an old rusty chandelier hanging around their place so it really comes down to taste.

The price range of these restored chandeliers ranges from $125 to $600--a reasonable price, host Terry Kovel assures us, considering the time refurbishing requires.
