Crocheted Dolls

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-136 -- More Projects »
Carol displays several crocheted dolls that have been sent to her from a viewer, a senior citizen named Otta Nalbantyan, who has been creating these intricate characters for years. Using recycled lace, thread, and other materials, Otta develops individual personalities for the dolls, including a likeness of Ethel Merman!

In her modest trailer home, Otta has surrounded herself with plenty of crocheted company. What is especially remarkable about these dolls is their level of detail. Under close scrutiny, one can see that they even have fingernails and are wearing underclothes. It takes approximately six weeks for Otta, whose talents are obvious and much appreciated by Carol Duvall, to make such embellished characters.
