Prevent messy cleanup by lining a casserole dish with foil before you begin preparing it.

TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham shares some of her favorite timesaving tips.
  • Fill the sink or tub with soapy water before you begin cooking so that dirty dishes can be soaked and cleaned as you dirty them.

  • Line the bottom of a casserole dish with aluminum foil to save cleaning time.

  • Rather than rolling out individual cookies, roll out one big cookie and press it into a baking pan or cookie sheet. Use a pizza cutter to cut the large cookie into smaller cookies after removing it from the oven.

  • Make up a grocery list with the necessities you buy each week. Photocopy this list and add the other items you need for the week to this list. This will save you from creating a new list each time.

  • Put tabs in the phone book on pages you frequently consult.

  • Lightly dampen a dustpan before sweeping dust bunnies into it, and the dust bunnies will stay in the dustpan rather than flying back out.
