Toolbox Chaos

Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-221 -- More Projects »
The Moving Doctor, Tom Nevermann, has tips on caring for and keeping track of tools. He shows how easily and inexpensively one can create an efficient workspace.

Silhouettes

  • Go to the hardware store and purchase some inexpensive hooks and a hanging board.

  • Decide where you want to hang each tool.

  • Paint a silhouette on the board in the shape of each tool. This enables you to put the tools away in the right place every time.

Dead Batteries

  • Hang chargers for electric tools on the wall. This encourages you to plug them in after every use.

Screws/Nails

  • Use jars to organize nails and screws.

  • Nail their lids to the underside of your garage cupboards. You can screw the jars and their contents into the hanging lids to make overhead storage compartments.

  • Another option would be to buy inexpensive mounting boxes.
