Guest Mary Jo McGraw demonstrates how to create these stamped pendants.

Materials:

air-dry clay or ceramic Amazing Shardz
waterproof ink in assorted colors
Diamond Glaze
metallic inks in assorted colors
black permanent ink
rubber stamps
metallic paint markers
rubber or leather cord
assorted beads and charms
jewelry jump rings and head pins
small jewelry pliers
craft knife
cookie cutters
rolling pin
skewer
sponges

Steps:

1. With a small rolling pin, roll out a 4" x 4" section of clay to about a 1/4-inch thickness.

2. Stamp a shape into the clay. Cut out the desired shape of the necklace with a craft knife. A cookie cutter can also be used to cut an intricate shape.

3. With a skewer, punch holes in the damp clay for jewelry findings (figure A).

4. Allow the piece to dry completely. Overnight is best.

5. Beginning with the lightest colors, apply ink directly to the surface of the necklace (figure B).

6. Add stamped images to the front of the necklace (figure C).

7. Add accents of metallic inks with a sponge or your fingers.

8. Coat the edges of the piece with the metallic paint pen.

9. Coat the entire piece with clear dimensional adhesive (Diamond Glaze) and let dry.

10. Attach jewelry findings with pliers and add beads and charms (figure D).

11. Tie the pendant onto a rubber or leather cord.
