Second Day Air by artist Jeff Irwin
The Carol Duvall Show cameras focus on artist Jeff Irwin of San Diego, Calif., and his unusual brand of ceramics. Irwin creates sophisticated, layered ceramics using black and white glazes to paint on sculpted works of art. His drawing and painting techniques make the clay sculptures look as though they're made of paper and wood.

Irwin often infuses his art with an environmental theme, carefully crafting important messages within each work. "I didn't want pretty anymore," said Irwin of his art, "even though the piece(s) might have a certain beauty to them, I wanted impact." Irwin's work certainly achieves that with art that is vibrant with message.
