Materials:

Parisian Wallpaper "Hold to Light" paper: emerald on yellow, green on red
2 yards each Coco Fiber Rope: spice, ochre
Lupa Paper: hunter
watered-down acrylic paints: browns, olive
hot glue sticks and glue gun
brush
paste

Steps:

1. Fold the Parisian wallpapers into 6-inch strips and run a wet brush over the folds (figure A). Let sit for a minute; then tear the folds apart, making three long strips.

2. Fold these strips into 6-inch squares, brush the folds the same way, and tear into 6-inch squares (figure B).

3. Paint these with the watered-down paints to tone down the colors (figure C).

4. Cut the Lupa Paper into a 15" x 21" placemat.

5. Center six of the 6-inch squares on the Lupa paper and alternate the designs. Paste them into place in this patchwork pattern. There should be a 1-inch boarder of Lupa paper between the rope and the patchwork squares (figure D).

6. Hot glue the spice coco fiber rope around the rim of the placemat (figure E). Hot glue the ochre coco fiber rope to the inside of the first row of rope.
