Sparkle Bottle

Children's craft expert John E. Thomas recycles items such as plastic bottles and 35 mm film containers to create fun and inexpensive toys for children.

Materials:

clear plastic bottle with cap
light corn syrup
assorted shapes of metallic confetti
cold water

Steps:

  1. Fill bottle 3/4 of the way with corn syrup.

  2. Add a small handful of confetti.

  3. Top the bottle off with water.

  4. Seal the bottle securely with the cap and shake.

Tips

  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the sparkle bottle for interest.

  • Create sparkle wands by using a 1-inch diameter clear plastic tube from an aquarium, and two chair-leg caps. Glue a cap on one end of the tube. Add ingredients as described above. Then glue the other cap on the wand.
