Guest and Solutia representative Candi Jenson demonstrates a new knitting stitch. This simple stitch is accomplished with large needles and two strands of yarn for one effect or smaller needles and one strand of yarn for a different effect. It's even reversible! The stitching looks woven and is perfect for rugs, pillows, or place mats.

Materials
large or small knitting needles
yarn in desired color(s)*

*Acrylic yarn with Bounce Back fibers is recommended for its wash-ability and resilience. Patons Canadiana was used on the show.

Steps
The stitch consists of two rows and an even number of stitches. Cast on an even number of stitches and start as follows:

Row 1: Knit 1, move yarn to the front and slip the next stitch, repeat these 2 stitches to the end.
Row 2: Purl 1, move yarn to the back and slip the next stitch, repeat these 2 stitches to the end.

That's all there is to it. You can vary the pattern by changing the yarn color every two, four, or six, etc. rows for a new effect.
