Materials:
The Beadery Clearly Mosaics Marbleized mosaic pieces: 1 bag jade (X275H), 1 bag tiger coral (X281H), 1 bag light tiger coral (X282H)
Plaid Gallery Glass paints: 1 bottle Simulated Liquid Leading black, 1 bottle Window Color
crystal clear, 1 bottle Window Color amber, & 1 bottle Window Color ivy green
wooden picture frame with glass
scissors
tape
glue gun & glue
paper towels, toothpick, cotton swabs, wire cutters - optional
Tips:
- Gallery Glass/Window Color may be used as glue and a background filler on flat projects.
- Use a toothpick to pierce bubbles in paint while paint is wet.
- Clearly Mosaics Marbleized pieces may be trimmed as desired with wire cutters.
Steps:
- Clean glass. Secure it in picture frame with hot glue. Use a photocopy machine to enlarge or reduce pattern to fit on glass of picture frame. Cut paper pattern along dotted line, position (face up) under glass, and tape in place.
- Paint flower and leaf outlines onto glass with Liquid Lead. (Stamen will be painted last) Allow paint to dry thoroughly.
- Flower: Apply amber Window Color paint within one flower petal, marked "F". Randomly place Clearly Mosaic pieces, varying tiger coral and light tiger coral, within the petal. Repeat within each flower petal. Leaves: Apply ivy green paint within one leaf outline, marked "L." Place jade Clearly Mosaic pieces randomly within leaf. Repeat for all remaining leaves. Buds: Follow same paint procedure as for flower petals. Place jade Clearly Mosaic pieces at base of each bud, and tiger coral and light tiger coral Clearly Mosaic pieces above them. Fill in stem of bud with ivy green paint. Stamens: Using black Liquid Lead make five stamens in center of flower.
- Working in small areas at a time, randomly apply three to five dots of amber paint to the glass. Maintaining a wet edge, apply crystal clear paint to the background to thickly cover, and swirl into amber dots to form a marbleized effect. Allow to dry flat.
