More goodies in the Shoebox today, with the first one being from Pat Howell of Columbia, Md. Pat sent in a photograph of her front walk along with letter saying that when it came to fixing her front walk, she had a choice of either taking a jack hammer and tearing up the sidewalk and then putting in bricks or leaving things as they were and stenciling the bricks over what was already there. Stenciling is what she did, and if it looks half as good in real life as it did in the photograph, she made a very wise decision. Most important of all is that Pat is thrilled with the results and what a difference it made.

And on the subject of stenciling, Sandy Heidelberg of Hillsdale, Mich., saw the show in which Jan Dressler stenciled a horse looking out of a stable door. Sandy liked the look but since she didn’t stencil, she decided to just paint it herself! Then to add to the realism and the dimensional look that Jan had achieved, Sandy put a real door knob on the stable door.

Elsie Anderson of Wala Wala, Wash., was also inspired to try her version of a project seen on the show. In this case Elsie saw the lampshade witch we did some time ago as a Halloween project. Elsie took the idea and turned the witch into a very cute little girl. Seen from the back she reminded me of one of those boo-boo in the corner dolls, but this little lady was cute both front and back.

Zetta West of Gary, Ind., also wrote to say that she does all kinds of crafts but apparently she is into mosaics right now, because she sent photographs of some of her more recent projects: a mosaic clock, mosaic nightlights and mosaic switch plate covers!
