Pantyhose Uses

Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-329 -- More Projects »
Hint collector Graham Haley shows how to use pantyhose for a variety of purposes.
  • Keep broom bristles in shape by cutting a band from an old pair of pantyhose (about four inches worth) and slip it over the broom so that it sits three to four inches above the end of the bristles.

  • Store onions and potatoes by dropping them into the bottom (foot) of a clean pair of pantyhose and tie a knot above it. Repeat this step until it is full. This hanging-storage system allows air to circulate through the produce. Removing the produce for use is easy--just snip off each item as it's needed, starting at the bottom.

  • To check the smoothness of sanded wood, put an old pair of hose on your hand, then rub over the sanded area. If it snags, then that place needs more sanding.

  • To extend the life of pantyhose by storing them in the freezer. Another idea is to spray the toe area with hairspray after each wash.
