Materials:

one pair Wrights black suede elbow patches (#238-1105)
1-1/2 yards Wrights metallic gold cord (#183-8480-046)
Wrights 3-1/2" metallic gold tassel (#144-9091-046)
Velcro dot
decorative brass charm
metallic gold sewing thread
black thread
glue gun
sewing needle with a large eye
scissors
pencil
ruler
tape or anti-fray liquid

Steps:

Purse
  1. Using a ruler, draw a line across one of the patches at a distance of 2-1/8" from the curved end of the patch.
  2. Cut along line to create the front of purse and discard the 2-1/8" scrap. Leave the other patch intact to form the back and flap of purse.
  3. Align the curved edges of the two patches. Stitch them together using large eye needle and two strands of metallic thread. Hint: to insure proper alignment of the pattern pieces, begin stitching from center of lower curved edges, concealing knots on the inside of purse. The patches should have pre-punched holes that will make the stitching very easy.

    Strap

  4. Cut desired length of gold cord. To prevent unraveling, wrap the ends of the cord with tape or apply anti-fray liquid.
  5. Use metallic thread to tack each end of the cord to the inside of the purse.

    Adding the Closure

  6. Apply Velcro closure dots to the underside of the flap and to the front of purse so that they line up on top of one another. Stitch each dot in place with black thread.
  7. Trim the loop of the tassel, leaving 1/2" tail.
  8. Hot glue the tassel to the center of the curved edge of the flap.
  9. Hot glue charm directly over the tail of the tassel.
