Slipcovers
Sew Perfect : Episode SEW-210 -- More Projects » Sandra Betzina introduces guest, Jan Saunders, from the Chilton Book Company. They discuss Gail Brown's book, Instant Interiors, and Saunders explains what fabrics work best for slipcovers, those that are heavily printed and sturdy. Saunders begins the project by measuring a miniature chair for a slipcover. They discuss fleece needed to pad the furniture and how to apply the fleece with packaging tape. Betzina and Saunders begin to insert the slipcover into chair crevices. To give a more tailored look, Saunders suggests tucking paper towel rolls into the crevices to secure the fabric. Saunders gives different options to finish off the chair by suggesting a ruffled hem skirt. Sandra and Saunders give another option to finish off the chair with directions to make a tailored hem skirt. Saunders shows the viewers how to package wrap a cushion with fabric and large safety pins. With just a little fabric Saunders shows how to cover a stool, chair seat, an entire chair, patio furniture and a vanity stool.
