These home decor items can add a special touch at the holidays.

Christmas Slipcover for Folding Chairs

Steps:

1. Measure the back of the chair from side to side (figure A).

2. Measure the seat of the chair from side to side and front to back.

3. Cut out the pattern for the chair back according to the measurement, adding two inches all the way around for seam allowances (figure B).

4. Cut the chair seat pattern the same way (figure C).

Cut two pieces of fabric out of the chair back pattern (figure D).

5. Cut two pieces of fabric out of the chair seat pattern.

6. Fold the hem of the chair back over 1/2 inch and then another 1/2 inch. Press them down (figure E).

7. Use a 70-10 needle. Sew straight across the hems of the chair backs (figure F).

8. Pin the pieces of the chair back right sides tighter (figure G).

9. Sew a line of overlock along the curved edge.

10. Turn the chair back cover right side out. Press the fabric. This finishes the chair back cover.

11. For the chair seat cover, use two layers of batting. Lay down the batting. Position two pieces of fabric right sides together on top of the batting (figure H).

12. Fold two pieces of ribbon in half. Slide the ribbon to be used as chair ties in between the fabric along the back edge. Pin them down (figure I).

13. Pin the pieces of fabric and batting together and sew around the cushion ( figure J). Leave a six inch opening in the back.

14. Turn the fabric right side out.

15. Sew the six-inch opening shut (figure K). Position the seat cover on the seat and tie it to the chair. Slide the back cover over the back of the chair (figure L).

Decorative Cloth Candle Wrap

This cloth candle wrap is for decorative purposes only. For safety precautions, always remove the candle from the cloth wrap prior to lighting the wick. Do not rewrap the candle until the fire has been extinguished completely.

Steps:

1. Cut a circle of fabric about six times the diameter of a pillar candle (figure M). Cut the fabric with pinking shears to prevent raveling (figure N).

2. Place the candle in the middle of the fabric and gather the fabric up around the candle (figure O).

3. Put a rubber band a third of the way up the candle around the fabric (figure P). Let the fabric fall back down.

4. Anchor the fabric around the candle using cording or a tassel. Tie tassel approximately 1/2 inch down the fabric (figure Q).
