7" x 9" mulberry paper
two pieces of 4-3/4" x 6-3/4" cardstock
4-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece of cardstock
glue stick
double-sided tape

- Daisy #09-151-I

- Clock Face #29-005-P
Cat's Eye pigment ink pads in Orange, Terra cotta, Eggplant and Midnight
permanent black ink pad
metallic gold ink pad
ColorBoxB. The Stylus Tray - stylus and white oval shape foam tip(s)
thin sheet of paper
re-positionable glue stick
scissors or craft knife and cutting mat

Steps:

Background Plate

1. Run glue stick over one side and around the edges of the acrylic plate.

2. Center the acrylic plate, glue-side-down, onto the mulberry paper.

3. Add glue to the exposed edges of the Mulberry paper then wrap it over the acrylic plate in gift-wrap fashion (figure A).

4. With the tip of the scissors or the craft knife, pierce a hole through the mulberry paper, exposing the pre-drilled hole on the acrylic plate. The clock hands and movement will connect through this hole.

5. Using double-sided tape or glue, secure a 4-3/4" x 6-3/4" piece of cardstock to the back of the plate to give it a clean finish.

6. Pierce the hole through the cardstock.

7. Set the paper-covered plate aside.

Clock Front

1. Make masks to protect the flowers by stamping the daisy stamp on the thin sheet of paper. Cut out the daisy as close as possible and put re-positionable glue on the back. Prepare one mask for each image you plan to stamp on the clock front.

2. Stamp the first flower onto the cardstock using permanent black ink, then cover it with a mask made in step 1. Stamp a second flower, slightly overlapping the first masked one and cover it with a mask also. Stamp on as many flowers as desired in the same manner, covering each of them with a mask before stamping the next.

3. Using the direct-to-paper technique, gently brush Cat's Eyes pigment inkpads over the cardstock to color it. Customize the background by adding as much color as desired, but avoid coloring or stamping on the front surface where you'll be gluing on the clock face (figure B).

4. Stamp the background leaf image using permanent black ink, mostly at the top of the cardstock (figure C).

5. Remove the flower masks. Color the flowers if desired using the pointed end of the Cat's Eyes inkpad or use the stylus with foam tip.

6. Stamp dragonflies images in gold pigment ink over the flowers and clock front as desired.

7. Allow the pigment ink to dry.

8. Stamp the clock face image on the 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece of cardstock using permanent black ink. Cut out the image.

9. Make a hole in the middle of the cut-out clock face and set it aside.

10. Place the decorated cardstock on the front of the acrylic plate using double-sided tape. Punch a hole through the cardstock at the hole in the acrylic plate.

11. Tape the clock face image to the decorated cardstock using double-sided tape. Make sure to center the hole in the clock face over the hole in the plate, lining up the numbers in the correct clock position.

12. Assemble the clock movement onto the acrylic plate and insert required battery to run the clock.
