Cat Eyes stamp pads in smoke blue, colonial blue royal blue, midnight blue, frost white, amber and roussillon
permanent black ink pad
metallic silver ink pad
thin sheet of paper
repositionnable glue stick
scissors
double-sided tape

Steps:

1. To make masks to protect the flowers, stamp five sunflowers on the thin sheet of paper (figure A).

2. Cut the flowers out as close as possible and put repositionable glue on the back of each one.

3. Using the permanent black ink, stamp one flower centered on five of the 3" x 3" cardboard tiles and cover each one with a mask (figure B).

4. Using the direct-to-paper technique, gently brush a smoke blue Cat Eye each of cardboard tiles with sunflowers to color the cardboard around the mask. Remove the mask (figure C). Color each of the four plain tiles with frost white, amber and roussillon (figure D).

5. On each of the tiles, stamp the bee stamp a few times with permanent black ink (figure E). Then stamp the first background stamp and few times with amber pigment.

6. Using the direct-to-paper technique, gently brush the Cat Eyes to color a 1-1/4-inch border around the 11" x 11" cardboard (figure F). Stamp the center of the cardboard with first background stamp in smoke blue (figure G).

7. Create a border using the same coloring technique on the 15" x 15" cardboard, this time using both blue colors (from light to dark). Stamp the center with the second background stamp in permanent black ink and the third background stamp in silver ink.

8. With double-sided tape, adhere the 11-1/2" x 11-1/2" cardstock on top of the the 15" x 15" piece. Then glue the 11" x 11" piece on top of the 11-1/2" x 11-1/2" piece. Center and glue each of the nine tiles on top of the 11" x 11" piece (figure H).

Tips:

  • When using Cat Eyes directly on paper, never brush roughly.
  • Coloring with light and then dark colors to keep the ink pads clean. If the pads become stained, clean them with a paper towel and re-ink them.
