It's cool...literally and figuratively...the Cool Gloo glue gun that does not plug in and does not heat up. The glue is contained in a cartridge attached to the handle and is used in the same manner as any hot-glue gun. The glue itself holds like hot glue, and in some cases, even better. Set-up time is slightly longer than set-up time for hot glue, allowing more time to work with crafts before the glue dries.
For all lovers of gold leaf and/or illuminated letters, here is the Quick Pen, a product that contains adhesive for applying gold leaf. The adhesive, usually found in a bottle and applied with a brush, can now be penciled-in using this felt-tip pen. The pen works in a manner similar to applying ink from a marker, which allows you to fill in those spaces that are too small for a brush.
While the Quick Pen can be used for applying any type of gold leaf, the gold leafing that Carol Duvall demonstrated is a 22kt gold leafing called Leaf Tek. It is backed by a sheet of tissue that provides "fly-free" application. Also demonstrated was a rub-on adhesive perfect for applying fine line designs for even finer lined gold-leaf applications. Both products are from GrafTek (discontinued), a division of S & Z Associates, Inc.
