Guest Christy Feke joins Carol to demonstrate how to create beautiful wreaths from wine bottle corks.

Materials:

approximately 70 corks*
grapevine wreath
hot glue gun
silk plants or other faux greenery with a rough texture
faux grapes with a rough texture
ribbon, raffia, etc.

*Check with a local restaurants to see if the bartenders are allowed to save wine corks for you.

Steps:
  1. Apply a liberal amount of glue in the wreath where the first cork will be attached. Let the glue sit for a bit to get tacky, and press the cork into place. Before the glue dries, turn the cork so that the name of the vineyard it came from can be read.
  2. Repeat step 1 until the entire front of the wreath is covered with corks.
  3. Place the grapes on top of the corks where desired. Christy views the wreath as a clock and puts a bow at 12 o'clock and the grapes at six o'clock. When attaching the grapes, put the stems through the wreath, and secure them with a liberal amount of hot glue.
  4. Repeat Step 3 with the greenery, ribbon and/or raffia.
Tip: Create faux grapes by carving them from foam, then painted them in shades of green or red.
