These days it seems that there can never be enough different papers . . . at least as far as crafters are concerned. We had a batch of different ones today along with some more products to use when working with paper.
Very exciting to anyone who is interested in decoupage . . . or collage . . . or who just loves to cut things out . . . are some wonderful papers from Artifacts, Inc. These are in a line called Finmark Decoupage Papers and they are quite wonderful. The large sheets are filled with colorful printed images in a variety of styles. The individual pages are priced at $2.99 but with the size of the sheets, the fact that they are unfolded so there are no crease marks, and the number of images on each sheet makes them well worth the relatively small investment. Even just one or two pages should keep you cutting for a long time. The paper is thin also, so not as many coats of varnish will be needed to bury the prints.
What's New has a most interesting and unusual addition to their line of scrapbooking papers. Called Tuscany Papers, I was a bit doubtful about their appeal until I saw them used as backgrounds as well as cut into frames for photos in an album. My daughter -in-law immediately put some to use in one of her travel albums and they looked wonderful So did some samples the company sent us where the papers were used as mats for pictures. As a bonus the 12" x 12" sheets are printed with cutting lines on the back for those who want 8-1/2" x 11" sized sheets. Very nice.
Generally we think of rubber stamps when the name Magenta is mentioned but the company now has a line (Layer Series of Decorative Papers) of most interesting papers that were obviously made using their rubber stamps. In fact, some of the pages look as if they are original pages of rubber stamping rather than printed copies. Though the thought is always "scrapbooking," the company sent samples of little boxes, cards and frames all made with the papers. The projects look as if you had stamped the designs yourself!
Not a new paper but a nifty way of using paper to make pop-up cards or add interest and dimension to your scrapbook pages, this time popping up words rather than images. Pop-Ups by Plane Class are brass templates that you place on your card, cut through where indicated with a craft knife, fold using their folding aid and the words pop up . . . "Thank You," "Just A Note," "Get Well," etc. They currently have 16 different templates and by the time you read this they will probably have more. Their directions are very clear and the pop-ups are easy to make.
I think a new word has been added to my vocabulary with the help of Stampa Rosa . . . Collage-Ables. These are small pages of adhesive-backed images that will add a vintage look to your stationery, note cards, photo frames, boxes, scrapbook pages, etc. These should be easy to cut out . . . all of the images that I saw, miniaturized old postcards, stamps, etc. had straight edges. Cut, peel and stick. Instant vintage effect!
