Woodcarver: Lorenzo Foncerrada

Modern Masters : Episode MAS-410 -- More Projects »
There's a world of influence represented in Lorenzo Foncerrada's work. From Mexico to Bali, he shapes wood with the experiences that have shaped him. He creates most of his carved railings, mantels and other pieces al fresco--an idea he borrowed from wood carvers in Bali.

Using only hand chisels he discovered in Indonesia, Foncerrada carves a half ton of wood down to 350 pounds. His father was also an artist and studied under Diego Rivera in Mexico.
