Cream and pink lampshade
Materials:
2-1/2 yards of 4-inch wide Blushing Bride bias satin silk ribbon
one yard of 5/8-inch wide pink Victorian braid ribbon
two yards of Cherry Blossom bias satin silk ribbon
one yard of 5/8-inch wide pink ruffled ribbon
six lace applique leaves
20 inches of mauve bead trim
six-inch wide, five-inch high paper lampshade
tacky glue
hot glue
spray adhesive
thread and needle
scissors
ruler
Steps:
1. Secure the wide, cream silk ribbon with tacky glue to the inside of the lampshade then wrap the ribbon around the shade (figure A).
2. Apply the bead trim to the bottom of the shade (figure B).
3. With tacky glue, glue Victorian braid to the top and bottom of the lampshade (figure C).
4. Make six coiled silk roses, using nine inches of pink silk ribbon. Make six coiled roses, using six inches of pink ruffled ribbon for each. For details on creating these roses, refer to the instructions found in Helen Gibb's book, Heirloom Ribbonwork.
5. Arrange three lace applique leaves, three silk roses, and three ruffled roses on a piece of crinoline. Secure the composition to the front of the lampshade (figure D). Repeat for the back.
Green and burgundy lampshade
10" x 18" piece of pale green fabric
nine-inch piece of 2-1/2-inch wide burgundy Napoleon Bee ribbon
nine-inch piece of burgundy Napoleon Bee cording
20 inches of Burgundy Napoleon Bee fringing
1-1/4 yard of 3/4-inch wide burgundy velvet striped ribbon
six small, gold beads
six-inch wide, five-inch high paper lampshade
tacky glue
hot glue
spray adhesive
thread and needle
scissors
ruler

Steps:
1. Make six flat blossoms from the velvet striped ribbon. Each blossom uses seven inches of ribbon. Use the rosette technique found in Helen's book, Heirloom Ribbonwork . Sew a small gold bead to the center of each blossom.
2. Cover the pre-glued lampshade with the fabric by rolling the shade across the wrong side of the fabric. Trim to fit. Glue over any raw edges to the inside of the shade (figure E).
3. Center and glue the nine-inch piece of wide Napoleon Bee ribbon to the front of the lampshade.
4. Trim the top of the shade with the burgundy cording (figure F).
5. Trim the bottom of the shade with burgundy fringing.
6. Glue the flat blossoms around the bottom of the shade (figure G).
