Carol Duvall Show guest Judith Baker Montano stitches embroidery thread and silk ribbon over natural designs to create a one-of-a-kind tie to give dad for Father's Day. These unique embellishing techniques can add a special touch to any solid color tie.
Materials
solid color tie
three 1 yard lengths of silk in complimentary colors
variety of silk embroidery floss and variegated metallic thread
sharp scissors, embroidery needles, chenille needles, tapestry needles
6" embroidery hoop
white pencil
Steps
- Trace a design onto the tie using a white pencil.
- Embroider running stitch using metallic thread if stitching the seaweed design.
- Embroider feather stitching and chain stitching next in either design.
- Add ruched silk ribbon line if stitching the seaweed design.
- Add silk spider web roses to seaweed design and lazy daisy leaves to either design.
